Hanover Park @ Mendham Boys Basketball
Mendham, NJ - The Mendham Minutemen defeated the Hanover Park Hornets 61-49 on February 21, 2008, which was also the day Mendham honored its senior basketball players and cheerleaders.
For Mendham, #55 Mark Cisco had a game high 23 points, while teammate #22 Rob Berish had 18 points. #4 Kent Poges, #3 Chris Hanson, #4 Chris Campisi and 11 Caleb DeMoss also put points up on the board. For the Hornets, Alex Gialanella and Pete Nagy had 10 points a piece while Phil Gatti and Chris Seery each had eight.

Morris County Girls Basketball Tournament
Florham Park, NJ - The #1 and #2 seeds will meet in the finals of the 34th Annual Morris County Tournament. #1 Morris Catholic took down #4 Chatham in the night cap via their overpowering pressure and speed. The Crusaders return to the finals for the eighth time in nine years with the 58-28 victory over Chatham. #2 Hanover Park, considered the underdog by many despite the higher seed, opened up the game in the 2nd half and jetted to a 45-34 victory over #3 West Morris Central. Haley D’Angelo gave Hanover Park head aches all game long defensively, but in return, the Hornets held the senior to 5 points, well below her season average. Emily Peel, Central’s leading scoring, knocked in 12. Jenna Wortman scored 15 and Lindsey Singer added 14
Girls Hoops: MCT Quarterfinal Hanover Park - Morris Knolls
Denville, NJ - Hanover Park, the #2-seed, had to fight off host school and #7-seed Morris Knolls. Morris Knolls gave the Hornets all they could handle and lead by one at the half, only to see the Hornet regroup at the Half and run away in the closing quarters. Hanover Park advances to the semifinals for the 3rd time in as many years. Hanover Park improved to 17-1 on the season and will face West Essex on Thursday. The Scarlet Knights handed the Hornets their only loss earlier this season. Hanover will then play in the semi’s less than 24 hours later.

Morris County Wrestling Tournament
Roxbury, NJ - The 22nd Annual Morris County Wrestling Tournament was held this weekend at Roxbury High School. The two-day event culminated with crowning 14 Champions and a Most Outstanding Wrestling. Joe Serrao, Parsippany’s Heavyweight, locked up MOW honors by pinning his final two opponents and stunning the packed gymnasium. Randolph took home the team crown, rolling past all opponents and surpassing second place Roxbury by 50 points. Randolph’s Mike Suk was one of three champions for the Rams. Suk’s father is Randolph’s head coach. Whippany Park was treated to their second ever County Champion as Steve Godine was able to mount a 3rd period comeback in the opening match of the finals. Morris Knoll’s Dan Herr broke the Morris Knolls School Record for wins as he locked up his County Championship and improved to 24-2 on the season.

Hanover Park’s Girls Basketball keeps rolling
East Hanover, NJ - The Hanover Park Hornets improved to 12-1 on the season with a 53-21 victory over Parsippany Hills. Hanover held the Lady Vikings scoreless for almost 7 minutes of the 1st quarter, which ended with the Hornets leading 15-5. Ashley Addison lead all scorers with 14 and Jenna Wortman knocked in ten. Parsippany Hills had Shannon Steuer and Jessica Zambito score six a piece. Hanover faces Morris County’s most dangerous team, Chatham today at 4:00.

Morris County Middle School Wrestling
Florham Park, NJ - Seventeen Middle Schools through Morris County competed in a two day wrestling tournament. Frelinghuysen Middle School from Morristown took home the team crown for the second year in a row and dominated the second day, which consisted of weight classes ranging from 105 through Heavyweight. Pequannock took second place overall with East Hanover coming in third. Long Valley, Delbarton, Memorial (Hanover Twp) and West Essex rounded out the top 5.

Hanover Park 50-21 West Essex - Wrestling
East Hanover, NJ - The home crowd was fired up as Hanover Park improved to 9-5, 5-0 in conference matches. This sets up a great week for the Hornets who travel to Parsippany (1 loss in confernce) and host Mendham (no losses in conference). Rich Szymczak, Jake Gruebert, Mike Lomio and Antonio Delvescovo all won on pins for the Hornets. West Essex received top performances from Sal Tobia, Jimmy Ciampi and Mike Droz.
