NJISSA Prep Cross Country Championship
October 31, 2007-Blairstown, NJ – Blair Academy was the site of this years NJ State Prep Cross Country Championships. Under beautiful Halloween skies seventeen schools competed on the new flatter Blair course. The favorites from both boys and girls divisions did not disappoint as they placed as expected. The best race of the day was the sprint to the finish for third place in the Division A boys event when Jorge Marques, St. Benedict’s, 17:45.5. just edged Jarrett Kunze, Peddie, 17:45.8 at the line.

Jillian Prentice a Sophmore from Montgomery High School came out on top in a field of 95 runners competing with a time of 18:42.25 running at an average of 6:01.3 for each mile.

Gill St. Bernard’s Junior Doug Smith not only defeated a field of more than 100 competitors, but also established a new course record of 15:25.48 compared to 15:47 formerly set by another Gill St. Bernard’s Knight Bobby Papazian back in 2004. Doug Smith ran a 4:57.9 average mile.

Annual Shore Track Coaches Association Cross Country Meet
Holmdel, NJ – Homdel Park was the place to be Saturday October 6, 2007. It was the site of the Annual Shore Track Coaches Association. There were a total of 24 races, including 12 varsity races, seven junior varsity races, and five frosh races for both boys and girls.
Bernards @ Mt St Mary’s Field Hockey
Watchung, NJ – Bernards continued its winning streak by defeating Mt St Mary’s 3-0 on goals by Grace Christus #1, Alex Crane #12 and Emily Pavlini #19. Goaltender Meryl Winslow had a great day with 12 saves.
