Moorestown Makes It Nine Straight

7 June 2008; Piscataway, NJ (Written by Lou Rossi for NJSI/Photos by Alex Cena): Chatham’s Cougars showed up at Rutgers’ Yurcak field with a tremendous task set before them – to upset Moorestown’s Quakers and keep them from winning their ninth straight championship.

Not aiding to their cause was the weather, one of the hottest days yet this year, coming in at a blistering 91 degrees. Thankfully, by the time the ladies took the field just after 3:30pm, a shallow breeze had begun to gracefully blow across the field; finally providing the players and spectators relief from what otherwise was a brutal day in the sun.

Moorestown also showed up with a tremendous task in their sights – keeping the legacy alive. Amidst the sweltering heat and humidity, they would perform to their fullest and topple the Cougars 16-9. (more…)

7 June 2008 Saturday; Piscataway, NJ, USA; (Written by Louis Rossi for www.njsi.net): Playing first in the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions final game on Saturday were the Mountain Lakes ‘Lakers’, and the Delbarton ‘Green Wave’. Taking the field at 12:30 for warm-ups, both teams were treated to a direct 90 degree sunbeam to add to the many factors accounting towards whom would eventually walk away champions.

The announcer could barely be heard over the crowd assembled in the stands. Everyone was rowdy with anticipation. (more…)
